Scenographer and Stage Designer for Contemporary Theatre
Hi, I am Gaurav Singh Nijjer. I'm a creative professional based in New Delhi, India.
I design stage worlds where set, video and space work together to support the performance.
As a scenographer I design the visual world of a performance, the set, the space, the objects and how an audience moves through it. My design thinking joins the physical and the digital, since much of my work uses video and projection as living scenery. I have designed and co-designed shows including I, Josef, ABSURDO, Luz Negra and Un Hombre Muerto a Puntapies, often in non-traditional spaces and with modest resources. I like designs that are simple to stage and rich to watch, built from a clear idea about how bodies, objects, images and light share the space. I draw on training from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Scale model-making, hand drafting, SketchUp basics, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, projection integration, materials sourcing and staging on a budget.

Gaurav Singh Nijjer is a theatre-maker, multidisciplinary designer, creative technologist and researcher from New Delhi, India.
As an artist Gaurav creates theatre, new media and interdisciplinary performances that integrate technology and storytelling, both as an individual artist and under his theatre company Kaivalya Plays. He is a researcher and educator, focusing on new technologies in storytelling. He also works as a creative strategist for brands and organizations, especially in the technology and arts sector, focusing on digital creative projects, marketing and growth.
