Hybrid Performance Designer for Live and Online Audiences
Hi, I am Gaurav Singh Nijjer. I'm a creative professional based in New Delhi, India.
I design performances that connect people in the room and online into one shared event.
I design hybrid performances that hold a live audience and an online audience in the same event. This is the heart of my research and my PhD at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I study how artists in the Global South use hybrid and networked formats to cross distances of geography and access. As a German Chancellor Fellow I spent a year researching hybrid formats with Berlin's Rimini Protokoll and interviewed over 75 artists and institutions. I bring this thinking into practical design: streaming, telepresence, shared digital spaces and the dramaturgy that makes distance feel like closeness.

Gaurav Singh Nijjer is a theatre-maker, multidisciplinary designer, creative technologist and researcher from New Delhi, India.
As an artist Gaurav creates theatre, new media and interdisciplinary performances that integrate technology and storytelling, both as an individual artist and under his theatre company Kaivalya Plays. He is a researcher and educator, focusing on new technologies in storytelling. He also works as a creative strategist for brands and organizations, especially in the technology and arts sector, focusing on digital creative projects, marketing and growth.
