Arts Researcher in Performance, Technology and AI
Hi, I am Gaurav Singh Nijjer. I'm a creative professional based in New Delhi, India.
I research how technology, distance and AI are changing live performance today.
I research the place where performance meets technology. My PhD at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama studies how theatre-makers in the Global South use hybrid and networked formats to cross distances of geography and access. As a German Chancellor Fellow I spent a year researching digital and hybrid performance with Berlin's Rimini Protokoll, interviewing over 75 artists and institutions. I led the Parivartan research project on AI in Indian theatre and a study on safety in the performing arts in India. I write and share my findings in plain language, so the work is useful to practising artists.
Qualitative research and interviews, literature review, practice-as-research, surveys, report writing, academic and plain-language publishing.
